How is Apple changing Medicine...

Not directly related to what we are currently doing but let's watch this site. It's new, it's cool!

http://www.apple.com/science/medicine/

I never realized how many times I say the word "cool." Does it date me? I need a new word - heck, maybe I need two new words! :)

Medical Apps for iphone

Holy cow, we need to tell faculty, staff and students about all of these Medical Apps! Do they know about these, are they using them, could we help them?

Jeff showed me one or two medical apps when they first came out but it has exploded! Great stuff!

Modality: Medical Education in Your Pocket - just a few.

GeekBrief.tv

We all got to be part of a live taping of GeekBrief.tv today. It was a nice break from the lectures. Believe it or not, I think Cali talks to the camera faster than I do.

Chris, Mike - you would have been drooling at some of the equipment they showed us.

Thanks Dr. Cleary for snapping of photo of the action to make my blog more interesting. :)

Saturday Session....

A few ideas after listening to Andy Wasklewicz from Stanford School of Medicine. Here is their new building - Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge.

Epocrates Essentials for the iphone...

Coming January 2009!

Dr. Slater, Michelle Snyder from Epocrates says Hi!
:)

"Best 25 bucks I spend a month..."

http://lynda.com

Do we have a subscription for this? Sounds like it would be great resource for faculty and staff and helpful for the IT Training Team.

I can't figure out how to make the screen shot bigger...you get the picture...I am just proud of myself for doing the screen shots! :)

There has to be an easier way....

ooVoo...what?!

I just heard about this video chat software and it sounds like exactly what we are looking for. You can video chat with up to 3 people for free and for $15 a month you can video chat with up to six. The interface looks hip too. Let's try it...maybe Monday...I am working from home on Monday so it would be a good test...anyone game? Lecture Capture meeting?

Honoring Bill Gates...

Would you expect anything less at an Apple sponsored conference??

Friday Sessions

Hi All,

Here are the videos for the Friday sessions. This video blogging thing is like a baby that I have to keep running up to the room to feed. Didn't expect it to be this much work. See how much I am learning.

Michelle.

This video focuses on some web 2.0 tools....

I was having a lot of problems with the camera before shooting this video. I confused some of the stats and learned later that the file I was referencing is actually called a M4B file - audio only - probably doesn't apply to us. Remember this project is called lessons learned...I am not capturing the video over so here you go....:)

Conference Logistics...

Kathy, Jeff, Jerry...what fun video chatting today! Seriously, amazing!

Here is a little video about the conference logistics...sounds boring but is really cool. It is only 2 minutes - just watch it!! :)

NEW - Link to the cool conference logistics - http://digitalmedia.health.usf.edu/ - access it on your iphone or ipod touch and you get the full experience.

Take care, Michelle.

A few things I forgot to mention in the video -

The conference software that we are using (same software that Jeff said they used at the Apple Conference) is open source. I am sure it would take a lot to programming it but something to remember. Created by the University of Cincinnati - http://daap.uc.edu/mobilAP/

I used iMovie to record this video. Is the quality better? I also worked really hard (ok, not really hard) on the lighting. Much better then the sunset I was trying to get you to see last night?

I have arrived....

Hi All!

I made it to Tampa! Please watch my first video blog. Laughing and comments making fun of this need not be posted. Man, it is hard to watch yourself! :)

Take care, Michelle.
